Introduction letter from Coach Clark

Players and Parents,

I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new boys’ hockey coach of Saranac Lake Placid
(SLP).   I have been involved with coaching hockey for 25 years in the NCAA, at prep schools, at LPHS,
with USA Hockey and NYSAHA and at all levels of youth hockey.  It’s exciting to get back to the high
school level.

This is an exciting time for both hockey communities and specifically the players involved, in creating a
cohesive, principled hockey program.   I am excited to be involved with the two schools and most
importantly the players in building a positive team culture and competitive program.

I am currently finalizing our team's schedule for the 2019-2020 hockey season.  More information on its
details will be forthcoming. One aspect of the schedule that needs immediate attention is a planned
weekend to Section I.  We have scheduled two games in Brewster, NY and an Islanders’ game during a
December weekend. We are hoping to stop on the way down and visit West Point Military Academy as
well.  To make this weekend worthwhile we will need to fundraise for a charter bus, hotels, NHL tickets
and meals (no small expense). If there are any parents who would like to take a lead role in this
fundraising effort please contact me.  kclark@lakeplacidcsd.net

I am also trying to get ice for OPTIONAL skates on the following Sundays:
September 15th, 22nd, 29th & October 6th, 13th.

These skates will be in the evening and could include 25 minutes of off-ice training.  The on-ice portion
will be 30 minutes of skill work and 30 minutes of full-ice 4v4. It will cost $10 a session and all players
and parents will need to sign a waiver to participate.  Again, these sessions are OPTIONAL for any boy
grades 9-12.

Players, as you start the school year remember you are starting to build our team’s culture with how you
treat your peers, respect your teachers, care for your school work, compete for your respective teams and
overall carry yourself as a student-athlete.  I look forward to attending some of your fall competitions
and seeing you around the school or rinks. November 11th will be here sooner than you think and with it,
our quest to be the best team we can be.

Parents and players, for updates and communication purposes, I like to use a blog.  The address of the
blog is https://slpboyshockey.blogspot.com/  Mr. Burdick, Mr. Bennett and I are working on the details
for the upcoming season.  As the season approaches please see the blog for pertinent information. .

Best Regards,

Coach Clark
