Next Year

I wanted to inform everybody that I have decided to not coach SLP next season.  It was always a 2-3 year plan for me after coaching Lake Placid for 14 years.  My goal was to help establish SLP with a strong organizational foundation, camaraderie and winning spirit.   I hope that was accomplished.  I am sure Mr Burdick and Mr Bennett will be successful in establishing a strong coaching staff for the future.  Thank-you to all in the SLP family for your support and best of luck in the future to the players.  I look forward to watching games as a fan.

If you plan on playing HS hockey you need to sign up with Mr. Bennett and Mr. Burdick IMMEDIATELY .   2. Complete ALL required paperwork (release forms etc...) from your school ASAP. 3. Information for HS hockey will be released when available.  Players need to check emails from your AD's and check this blog to assure you complete the needed steps.  Bottom line, you need to stay up on requirements because there are a lot of moving parts to assure we are able to play come 3/1.  Personal responsibility will be key.

SLP High School Hockey Update - 3/1 Start Date

Both SL and LP school boards have voted to allow high risk sports to start on 3/1.  We will be organizing the details of HS hockey with our AD's and opponents.  Stay tuned.    In the meantime we will continue with our 18U group until 3/1.  Those skates will now be more formal as to prepare for game competition.  It is highly recommended that players coming out for varsity hockey attend as many/all 18U practices. 18U will practice this weekend:    Sunday, 2/21  10:00-11:00 AM, 1932 Rink If you have not skated with the 18U group you can look at earlier posts on the blog to make sure you follow the proper protocol and have officially signed up with SLP Youth Hockey.  Next week's practice schedule will be posted soon - we hope to skate 3-4 more time before 3/1.

SLP Hockey Updates During Covid-19

Image
Gentlemen, Happy Easter!  I hope everybody is safe and able to stay active and productive during these difficult times.  These are challenging times.  I urge all of you to find a way to stay active by running, working out, shooting pucks and/or being creative with the resources in and around your home. A scheduling note for next year, as a league we decided to add 4-more league games to each section VII teams' schedule.  So we will have 12 league games and 8 non-league games.  I am currently working on an overnight trip to section III where we can take in a college game and play two games. This will end, hopefully sooner than later.  There are many stories in the world that can inspire. I have linked one below from the hockey world.

Covid-19 - End of Year

SLP Boys' Hockey, Wow!  The last week has been a whirlwind of shock, disbelief, confusion and uncertainty.  I hope everybody is doing well through this difficult national and international crisis.  We are definitely in trying times that has and will require collective sacrifice to end this pandemic.   I wanted to reach out and express my hopes that all the SLP Hockey community is safe and healthy.   I figured I would post a funny video from the Minnesota High School State Championship's "All Hockey Hair Team."  This is from 2018.  There are many more available, just google them.  I think many of our boys would have had a shot to make it in the "Top 10."
